VIII INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION “MUSICA IN LANGA”, Castiglione Falletto (CN)
Regulation
Art. 1 The cultural association 4face in collaboration with the Municipality of Castiglione Falletto (CN) organizes the eighth edition of the International Competition “Musica in Langa” which will take place at the Confraternita di Sant'Anna in via Cavour in Castiglione Falletto (CN) on 27 and 28 September 2025. The competition will take place IN PERSON.
Art. 2 The Competition aims to promote musical culture among young people by identifying and encouraging the artistic affirmation of emerging talents, encouraging the comparison between musicians who, coming from the most diverse countries of the world, guarantee the territory an extraordinary cultural growth; contribute to spreading, developing and increasing the study of music; make the territory and its peculiarities known.
Art. 3 The Competition is divided into 2 sections:
1. SOLOISTS (piano - strings - wind instruments - guitar - harp - opera singers)
2. CHAMBER MUSIC (any formation, including 4-hand piano, excluding 2 pianos)
Art. 4 Categories and programmes (freely chosen by the candidate) with a maximum duration of:
1. SOLOISTS:
Cat. A up to 8 years. Max 6 minutes
Cat. B up to 10 years. Max 8 minutes
Cat. C up to 12 years. Max 10 minutes
Cat. D up to 15 years. Max 15 minutes
Cat. And up to 18 years. Max 18 minutes
Cat. F up to 21 years. Max 21 minutes
Cat. G up to 25 years. Two tests: Eliminatory and Final
Elimination:
Candidates will have to perform a study and a piece of their own choice (two pieces for opera singers). Maximum duration of the test: 15 minutes
Final:
Candidates must perform a free program lasting a maximum of 20 minutes (it is not possible to re-perform the program performed in the elimination round).
2. CHAMBER MUSIC:
Cat. H up to 11 years. Max 5 minutes
Cat. I up to 15 years. Max 10 minutes
Cat. L up to 20 years. Max 15 minutes
Cat. M up to 25 years. Max 25 minutes
NB For section 2 the membership category is determined by the oldest member.
Art. 5 Performance from memory is not required. The rankings will be communicated to the participants at the end of the auditions of the category or of the entire section. The competitors of each category must be present on the day and at the time set for the roll call. The performance will take place in alphabetical order. Latecomers may be admitted to the tests at the sole discretion of the Jury. The participants must provide their own musical instruments. The organization will provide the competitors with a piano and a music stand.
Art. 6 Each competitor may register for more than one section, but only for one category of each section. Candidates may also register for categories higher than their own, if they believe that their preparation allows it.
Art. 7 The jury, whose decision is final, irrevocable and unquestionable, will have the right to interrupt the auditions, repeat them in part or in full or to call for a further test and may reserve the right not to award prizes if the necessary requirements are not met. The judgments will be expressed by voting from 1 to 100 with the following criteria: from 75 to 79: 5th prize; from 80 to 84: 4th prize; from 85 to 89: 3rd prize; from 90 to 94: 2nd prize; from 95 to 99: 1st prize; 100/100: first absolute prize (single and indivisible).
Art. 8 The judging panel will be composed of musicians of great fame. The Artistic Directors of the event are Prof. Anna Lisa Bio and M° Ciro Noto.
Art. 9 The members of the jury who have or have had, in the year preceding the beginning of the Competition, teaching relationships with one or more competitors, will abstain from expressing their vote in reference to the performance of the competitors themselves.
Art. 10 At the beginning of the audition, competitors must present an identification document and a photocopy of the pieces they will perform (the latter will remain on file and will not be returned).
Art. 11 Competitors must provide their own accompanying pianist, but for those who do not have one, the organization will provide its own pianist at the price of €80.00 (for information write to 4face@4face.it or contact the secretariat at 3804185360 at least one month before of the registration deadline).
Art. 12 Competitors must show up at the place and time indicated in the calendar that will be published on this site starting from the week following the registration deadline (not before September 22, 2025). Please do not call before that date. In case of extreme necessity, send an email to 4face@4face.it
Art. 13 Awards and Special Awards
At the end of all the performances, the Commission will decree the overall winner of the 8th edition of the Competition, choosing him at its sole discretion from among all the participants of all the sections and categories.
The winner will receive:
- Scholarship of €1000.00
- three concerts
- diploma of Absolute Winner of the VIII Edition of the International Competition “Musica in Langa”
To the second place winner (decided with the same methods):
- Scholarship of €500.00
- diploma of merit of Second Place at the VIII Edition of the International Competition “Musica in Langa”
To the third place winner (decided with the same methods):
- Scholarship of €200
- Third Place Merit Diploma at the VIII Edition of the International Competition “Musica in Langa”
For all categories: Diploma of Merit and Medal (1st overall), Diploma of Merit and Medal (1st place), Diploma of Merit (from 2nd to 5th place)
The teacher who will have presented the highest number of students among the winners (sum of the scores from the first to the fourth prize): right to take part in the commission of the ninth edition of the Competition (2026). Any additional prizes will be published on the website www.musicainlanga.it
Art. 14 Participation fees (membership card and contribution to expenses)
Soloists:
Cat. ABC: €50.00
Cat. DEF: €60.00
Cat. G: €80.00
Chamber Music and Piano 4 Hands:
Cat: HIL: €45.00 per member
Cat. M: €55.00 per member
Art. 15 Registration methods:

The payment of the participation fees can be made by bank transfer to the current account in the name of: Associazione 4face - IBAN code IT41V 07601 01000 001029930888 (reason: NAME, SURNAME & CATEGORY) The deadline for registration to the competition is 09/19/2025. The Association reserves the right to cancel the entire Competition or some categories, if it does not consider the number of participants adequate. In this case, the registration fees will be refunded.
Art. 16 Travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the participants. The 4FACE Association is not responsible for any accidents that may occur to people and/or things during the trip and for the entire duration of the Competition.
Art. 17 No compensation may be requested for any audio/video recordings and the participants (parents in the case of minors) by registering for the Competition hereby release full authorization for the possible publication of the same on channels, websites or any type of mass media at the discretion of the 4face Association. The competitors may only record their own performance by requesting authorization from the secretariat before the competition.
Art. 18 Registration for the Competition entails full and unconditional acceptance of this announcement as well as any changes made during the competition by the Organising Body aimed at improving the event.
Art. 19 Pursuant to the current legislation on the "Protection of personal data", the 4face Association informs that the data provided upon registration will be stored and used exclusively for the purpose of sending communications relating to the competition and that the owner of the data has the right to know, update, delete and rectify his/her data or oppose their use.
Art. 20 The in-person tests will be held in full compliance with current health regulations. In the event of a dispute, the only valid regulation is the one written in Italian.
